Back to the Toronto Raptors Newsfeed

The Raptors have the No. 33 in the NBA draft. Which players picked in that slot have gone on to do well?

Kevin Duckworth was a two-time NBA all-star, he won the league’s Most Improved Player award in 1988, he played in an NBA Finals and carved out an 11-year, 684-game career with five franchises.

And why is Kevin Duckworth relevant today?

The seven-foot centre is widely considered the most accomplished 33rd draft pick in NBA history and if the Raptors can come up with anything close to that when they make their selection on Thursday night, it will have been one of the top drafts in franchise history.

It is unlikely, though.

As with every selection in every draft, a look through the history books shows a distinct hit-or-miss pattern with the early second-round selection.
